Giving Some of the Work Away

Saturday morning has a way of showing you everything that needs doing.

You make coffee, look outside and notice the grass. It needs cutting. You noticed it yesterday too, but yesterday was Friday and somehow that made it Saturday's problem.

Now Saturday is here.

The funny thing is, you actually like the garden. You like opening the door in the morning and seeing everything green. You like having somewhere to take your coffee when the weather is good. You may even enjoy trimming a few herbs, moving a pot around or watering that one plant you've become strangely attached to.

It's the jobs that keep coming back. The grass doesn't care that you cut it last weekend. It has already started again.

And this is where giving away one of those jobs begins to sound rather nice.

A robotic mower can quietly take care of the lawn while you're making breakfast, talking to someone in the kitchen or doing absolutely nothing useful for an hour.

“Some garden jobs are worth keeping. Others are perfectly fine without us.”

The Jobs You'd Actually Miss

There are things in a garden you probably wouldn't want a machine to do.

Planting something and checking a few days later to see if anything has happened. Picking herbs for dinner. Moving a chair into the sun.

Standing with the hose for longer than necessary, even though that plant has definitely had enough water.

Those are part of having a garden. Walking the same mower up and down the lawn every Saturday may not be.

So one Saturday, you look outside and the grass is already neat. No mower to pull from the garage. No job waiting after breakfast.

You take your coffee outside instead.

The garden is ready.

And your Saturday is still yours.
